Recognition & Rewards

Midlothian Community Action believes that all volunteers should feel valued and appreciated.  Volunteer Involving Organisations show their appreciation in various ways from saying ‘thank you’, to internal ‘volunteer of the month’ recognition, volunteer celebration events, providing references, nominating volunteers for awards and much more.

Young Volunteers & Saltire Awards

Young volunteers can register for Saltire Awards, the Scottish Government’s method of formally recognising the contribution of 12-25 year old volunteers. Anyone who wants to sign up for Saltire Awards scheme should register on the Saltire Awards website

Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK, taking place in the first week of June. We actively encourage local organisations to celebrate the hard work and commitment of their volunteers during Volunteers’ Week.

For more info and useful resources visit the Volunteers’ Week website.

Midlothian Volunteer Awards

Each year, the annual Midlothian Volunteer Awards are held around Volunteers’ Week in early June.  The Midlothian Volunteer Awards go ahead thanks to sponsorship from a range of local organisations and partnerships.  Both individual and teams of volunteers can be nominated to various categories which celebrate and recognise the impact of volunteering in Midlothian.  Nominations open around January/ February each year. Winners are announced at the annual awards ceremony, taking place at the gorgeous Newbattle Abbey College.

Find out more and look through our archive from previous Midlothian Volunteer Awards Ceremonies here.

Our Volunteers’ Week celebrations would not be possible without the generous support of Newbattle Abbey College and our event sponsors each year.

If you want to support us by sponsoring next year’s Midlothian Volunteer Awards, get in touch at volunteering@MCA.scot.

National Volunteer Recruitment Campaign

The National Volunteer Recruitment Campaign is a collaborative and evolving initiative designed to support the voluntary sector in identified areas of need and concern. The aim of the campaign is to increase volunteer recruitment by inspiring and supporting other organisations across Scotland, as part of the Scottish Government’s Volunteering Action Plan, #VolunteeringForAll.

As part of the National Volunteer Recruitment Campaign, we aim to promote volunteering by highlighting the experiences of volunteers in Midlothian. By looking at their journeys into volunteering and the impact it has had on their lives, we hope to recognise their contributions and inspire future volunteers.
