SUMMARY:All About Community Asset Transfer
DESCRIPTION:Find out how your community organisation can take on assets in Midlothian for the use of the community. \nRegister on Eventbrite\n\n\n\n\nCommunity Asset Transfer (CAT) is the process in which community organisations have a right to request the local authority to take ownership\, or lease\, of any land or buildings that they could manage and bring public benefit to. A successful CAT application must meet a number of criteria around governance and the proposed benefit to the community it is in. \nThe current CAT process for Midlothian Council assets is outlined on their website. \nIn this session we will discuss: \n\nThe governance structure needed to make a CAT request\nThe risks and benefits of taking on a community asset\nDifferent kinds of community consultations methods that can be used to show your CAT will be of public benefit\nHow to write a sustainable business plan to show the viability of your project\n\nThis event will have expertise from Ruth Evans at DTAS; Catherine Duns\, Senior CLLE Worker at Midlothian Council; and MCA Lead Development Worker\, Natalie Welsh. \nPlease note: this event is for those who are interested in potentially taking on an asset from Midlothian Council either now or in the future. \nThere will be lunch provided after the event finishes from 12 – 1pm as an informal networking opportunity to meet other groups considering or in the CAT process. \nSpaces are limited so we request that organisations send no more than two representatives to attend the session.
