Lived Experience Members Gain Voting Rights on Midlothian Integration Joint Board
New Scottish Government legislation will give lived experience members of the Midlothian Integration Joint Board (IJB) voting rights, giving local people a stronger say in health and social care decisions.
These members bring valuable knowledge from their own experiences of using services or supporting those who do. They include representatives from third sector organisations, local service users, and unpaid carers from across Midlothian.
The change is designed to ensure that decisions are shaped by the people most affected by local services and reflects a commitment to more inclusive and person-centred governance. As voting members, they will be expected to follow the IJB’s Code of Conduct and declare any conflicts of interest.
The Code helps ensure that all board members use their skills, knowledge and experience to act in the best interests of the IJB and the communities it serves.
